I'm Greening Arizona One Home At A Time! (sm)
About Gail Johnson
Born and raised in southeastern N.C. and attended UNC-Wilmington earning a BA Degree in Spanish/Education. Warmer weather was in my future so I moved to Tampa, Florida in 1979. In Tampa, I was invited to take a hot air balloon ride. Only the first ride was free, the next one cost me $6,000 for a balloon; I had to have one.
In 1983, I started a business that would take me to 38 U.S. States and 5 countries. My Shih Tzu, Cheoy Lee (who has passed on to doggy heaven) and I travelled by van during most of the year and when home, lived aboard my 25' sailboat.
Yes, IT WAS A NICE WAY TO LIVE.
In 1988, I met my husband, Mark. We moved west to Colorado, married in 1991 and never looked back, east that is. We moved to Phoenix in 1995. While searching for our new home here my interest in real estate as a career developed. I attended Arizona School of Real Estate in Scottsdale (the best real estate school in AZ) where I received my RealtorLicense in 1997 and my Broker's License in 2002.
In 2008, I discovered all the green building education. I completed EcoBrokerŽ in May, 2008 and in August founded and started EcoMonday, LLC. EcoMonday is an educational networking organization to help business owners green their businesses. In November, 2008 the National Association of Realtors created their new GREENŽ designation. I was the 1st in Arizona to hold this designation.
I believe in education and that it has been vital to my success in real estate. I have obtained educational designations such as CRS (Certified Residential Specialist, an elite group, only 4% of all agents), e-Pro Internet Specialist, less than 1% of agents and MRE, Masters of Real Estate, an Arizona designation earned by completing a higher volume of continuing education than other agents; quite a distinction.
I am now Broker/Owner of Green Home Properties, the newest "green" real estate brokerage in Arizona. I want to help buyers distinguish those features that will save them money "after the sale" as well as put homeowners in touch with professionals who can help assess their current home's efficiency and solutions.
